Pre Surgery Assement

 Went to Cambridge University Hospital (CUH) (Addenbrook's) for Pre Surgery checks
All checks OK so OK for having my 6/7th surgery

Surgery is booked for 29th Nov 
With my new surgeon and apparently my previous surgeon and a third surgeon attending as well
So a triple tag team of surgeons 

Operation 5/6

I had a major 13hr tumour de-bulking operation on Monday
I was left in a coma for a couple of days whilst in a collar to ensure everything remained stable

I am now home
Feel very weak and drained
Its been a very tough week and will take a while to get back into the swing of things
Been a lot harder than ever before
Its really taken it out of me
Still fighting the fight
Have to wear a collar for 6 weeks My Avengers movie costume
Then they need to assess wether they need to fit fixation plates in the neck/spine
Then a course of radiation
So a very long way to go - again

Operation 4/5 done

Operation number 4 done or 5 if you include the Biopsy

I was on the operating table approx 7/8 hrs
They feel they have done a good job

I want to surgery at 8am and woke up in recovery around 6pm. As far as I can remember

I am in in pain where I was laid on my side for so long
My right leg and arm and hip and shoulder
They need me fixed in one spot while they do the operation on my head
The head is fixed in a frame while the operate via the left side of my head / neck behind the ear

I will update more when I feel a bit better

Oddly enough only a little pain from my head so far !

Operation 3/4

Operation scheduled

For November 12
I have to be up bright and early and in the hospital by 7am

The are going to go in via the left side of my head/neck

Operation Three

On Wednesday I went into ward a3 at Addenbrooks hospital, Cambridge.
Again the operation had many risks and there was a possibility of having to cut through the oral palate and risk of tracheostomy etc.

Operation took about 4 hrs.

I cannot remember anything since my op until today so Julie is updating these days.

Paul came back to ward a5 after his op. He had a drip and oxygen. He was very drowsy but knew where he was and able to hold short conversations.
Mr Mannion came to see him said op had gone well but small hole had been made in dura(outer lining of brain) so more prone to meningitis.

I had the operation
They went through the nose
They took out all the tumour they could see
The operation took around 6/7 hrs

I will be having a MRI
Hopefully this will not find any large bits still left or they will have to operate again either through the mouth or neck

If the MRI is OK. Next stage radiotherapy

Biopsy - Done

Early start yesterday had to be at Addenbrook's hospital @ 7am

There was a lot of people in for day surgery
The day room at neuro ward A3 was very busy
Luckily I was first on the list to be operated on so was in a ward bay/bed getting ready by 8am

Got changed into my operation gown and anti blood clot stockings.  Well sexy !

Various visits from Anaesthetist, Nurses and health care assistants followed

They took me down for surgery around 8:15 to the Anaesthetic room

Next thing I knew I was in the recovery room. Surgery all done @10:00

Back to the ward. Very sleepy and only a little pain
